Update from Oulu: garage-works are done, at least the ones that I needed to do thios winter. Inner ceiling has been painted, and all the lamps have been fixed, now it's actually quite "sunny" in the garage. A lot of electrical work was also done, several new plugs in walls. A lot new storage, too. I deciced that I have to do all this, and only then I'm allowed to start working with the cars, otherwise the not-so-interesting tasks would never be done...

To-do-list with cars:
- Portal Range ("Ärjy"): annual inspection needs: tiny tyres, and "some" body repairs. Then install rear winch, 12k hi-speed model from http://www.preheat.eu/index.php?page=offroad-varusteet and some oil leaks (transfer gearbox, engine and driver side wheel hub) need attention
- Petteri's Suzuki ("Kirppu"): winch (HS9500 Warn), maybe also lockrigt to rear axle if the man wants it (so far he has said "lets wait, I want to learn to drive first" - open diffs in both axles make you choose carefully how you drive...)

Next winter I'm planning to completely re-build the engine in Ärjy, no time and urgency to do it for this summer.

No, we will only have one car, but if both Ärjy (range) and Kirppu (zuki) are available, we might take both of them to raajärvi, and choose car depending on day/group/plan.

That is a good plan. Im thinking of taking the Volvo on a trailer behind my Chevy Suburban this year. That if i have instaled the turbo charger in the car and find a trailer to rent at a decent price.

New tyres this year. I now have a set of Michelin XZL for my Volvo. They are in 255/100-16 (9,00-16) i will try them some of the days. I still have the Maxxis Crepy Crawler tyres for more extreme driving.

This tyres is compatible whit the Maxxis on the height, so the spare is usable too.

Is it posible to make a paypal acount for payment this year? It is faster and a lot easier to use, than a bank transfer.

Hmm... I'll check that. If getting the money from paypal (to LT bank account in Finland) is difficult or expensive,
would the "just bring cash with you when you come" work for you? I think we can easily apply this for everyone
who has participated LT before.

The 1st day pre-payment is basically there to make Mainari planning (especially food) easier, since that will reduce
no-shows. But I think LT-veterans donät cancel their registratins without very good reason, and then it does not
matter that much if there is a pre-payment or not.

Above is not official LT point of view, more my own personal one, but we'll discuss this in the next organiser
meeting (hopefully this or next week, depending also on getting necessary paypal info), more info after that.

Status update from Oulu: Ärjy (the old shitty portal-range) had the annual inspection yesterday,
and the bloody thing was approved to be street-legal!!! Two small remarks, easy to fix.

Now we need to do the annual inspection for the Kirppu (Petteris suzuki), and then install
winches on both. Rear winch for Ärjy, and front winch for Kirppu.

In theory, I will not be awfully busy for several weeks before LT doing looooooong hours in
the garage, if I can do all important things well in advance, but we'll see how this will go...

But the brakes and the wheels work very well, so I get at least something done properly
even in a big hurry.

I also bought a lorry last year to carry Ärjy or Kirppu around, -88 Volvo FL408, own weight
4400kg, load capacity 3100kg, total weight 7500kg. 3.6l 6-cyl engine with turbo (90kW?),
goes pretty well with suzuki, have not tried yet with range.

Bed is 4 meters long, 210cm wide.

Ready for the action?

If the car was not so ugly, I think it would be almost cute, with morris mini -sized tyres and everything.
This picture was taken 10 minutes after the annual inspection was done, but this I'm sure everybody guessed already.

I need to fix a couple of holes in toe chassis, the other one is the other remark I got from the inspection, but it
was not just a hole in the floor, the chassis support was almost gone.

New part 2mm sheet metal, except the U-tyube which is 3mm I think, somewhat thicker anyway.

I needs to have this shitty job (nobody likes to patch rusty chassis, right?) done in 2 weeks, since we have big search-and-rescue exercise in Taivalkoski. Hopefully the search areas and targets will be in very difficult places... Tongue
